Important information about recent fraud attempts
Recently, consumers have reported receiving phone calls from individuals claiming to be calling from a financial institution asking for social security numbers or other confidential information, with Caller ID information seeming to confirm
that the call is from the named institution. The callers claim to be calling about fraudulent transactions or other issues with a consumer’s debit or credit card or other accounts, and attempt to get the consumer to share his or her card,
account or social security numbers.
These calls are not from any financial institution, but are a case of criminals “spoofing” institutions’ phone numbers in an attempt to gain consumers’ personal information and commit fraud against them. Arizona Federal employees
will never contact you and ask you for your account information or social security number. If you receive one of these calls, or if anyone contacts you and asks you for your personal or account information, hang up and call 602-683-1000 to
report the incident.
