Thr
Florence Crittenton Group houses girls
facing issues including abuse, pregnancy,
neglect or violence. Operating in
the Valley for over a century, the
Florence Crittenton Group has grown
to include a school, an independent
living facility, a teen parenting
program, a mentoring program and a
group home for teens and young adults
ages 12-21.
On Sunday,
May 15, the Arizona Federal Service
Squad volunteered to host Make a Difference's
Sunday Social at the Crittenton Group.
It provides activities each month
for the Group home. The Service Squad
worked with the girls to help them
create decorative ceramic pots using
paint, markers and fabric. The girls
kept their creations for storing their
make-up or pens.
Fun was had
by all as scissors went snipping,
paint splashed about and laughter
filled the room. Activities like this
help the girls realize they have someone
to depend on, to share their stories
with and to take their minds off of
their everyday struggles.
