Each
month, the Arizona Federal Service Squad serves
the community through various projects. Their
work totals 25 projects, 425 participants and
1,347 hours of work.
But it wasn't enough.
The Service Squad wanted to give more.
In July, the Arizona
Federal Service Squad decided to double their
efforts and engage in two projects per month.
What better way to start than to feed the bodies
and the minds of Maricopa County!
The
first project took the Service Squad to the Andre
House, which served meals to around 150 people
six nights a week. One member of the Service Squad
was impressed by "how much care [was] put
into each meal" with a "real sense of
dignity ... displayed in the way the meals were
served to each person." The members of the
Squad felt a real privilege to serve.
The next weekend the
Squad fed the minds of children from Andre House
by reading to them at the Centeral Library in
Phoenix. The children first read books with the
Service Squad volunteers, then shared the books
they read with the rest of the group.
The Arizona Federal Service
Squad is excited to have twice the opportunity
to give back to the community.
Arizona
Federal is a locally-owned, locally-controlled,
and locally-operated federally-chartered
credit union managing $1 billion in
member assets and serving over 165,000
member accounts.
