Service Squad supports Ronald McDonald House
On Sunday, May 20, 2007, the Service Squad put their culinary skills to good use. A group of Arizona Federal volunteers partnered with the Make A Difference Foundation to create a succulent Italian feast for the Ronald McDonald house in Phoenix.
The Service Squad helped make a menu to feed the 42 families that are currently staying at Ronald McDonald House while their children are undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Each volunteer was given a recipe to create different dishes, which included spaghetti, meatballs, fruit salad, chef salad, broccoli salad, green beans, garlic bread, lemon bars and peach cobbler.
While some of the food was still in the oven, the Service Squad learned about the Ronald McDonald House and toured the facilities where the families stay.
When the dinner was ready, the Service Squad sat back and enjoyed watching the families eat the food they worked so hard to prepare. When dinner was done, the families shared with the Service Squad how grateful they were to have someone cook for them. It was one less thing the families had to worry about during their difficult time.
