Phoenix,
Ariz. – Arizona Federal’s
president and CEO, Ronald L. Westad,
was honored by the Greater Phoenix
Urban League at its annual Whitney
M. Young, Jr. awards dinner on March
3, 2005 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort
and Spa.
Founded in 1910, the Greater Phoenix
Urban League is a leading provider
of social services throughout the
Valley of the Sun.
Westad was presented the Whitney
M. Young, Jr. award in the individual
category for serving eight years on
the Greater Phoenix Urban League’s
Board of Directors.
While serving on the Board, Westad
has witnessed the opening of the Enterprise
Academy charter school; the construction
and opening of additional affordable
housing units; partnerships with various
corporate entities, such as Intel,
to assist with bridging the digital
divide; and the launch of their first-time
homebuyers program.
Westad also encouraged the partnership
of Arizona Federal and the Urban League
to promote financial fitness to members
of each organization.
“I am grateful for the recognition
the Greater Phoenix Urban League provided
through this Whitney M. Young, Jr.
Individual Award,” said Westad.
“However, I believe the award
is more appropriately a reflection
of Arizona Federal's commitment to
and involvement with key community
organizations and the communities
in which we serve rather than a product
of anything I may have done individually.”
Arizona
Federal is one of the state’s
largest credit unions with more than
$1.25 billion in assets, over 163,000
members and 21 Arizona locations.
Arizona Federal is dedicated to effectively

needs through a professional staff,
sound economic principles and a full
